Design MEC

It's been a while since I've written, mainly because I've been swamped with LSDC-Street activities and academic deadlines. This challenge for Day 10 I'm actually doing after the Day 11 challenge, just because I didn't want to come up with a long paragraph on the differences between my best friends and I at that time.

Since classes were suspended today, here's my chance! The Philippines has been in bad weather conditions lately, so I'm hoping and praying that my fellow kababayans are getting the comfort and safety they need.

I will choose to write about the differences between my best friends Casey, Mandi and I, in terms of our fashion sense. Even though most people introduce us as our infamous acronym, MEC, we secretly enjoy being different from each other. We're associated by MEC because we're usually together. We're the three girls you'll see at casual get-togethers all dressed up, mainly because that's what interests us. What is common about us is our love for fashion and not being afraid to try new things when it comes to dressing up.

The main differences between our fashion sense is our tastes. Although all three of us usually incorporate at least one trend in our outfits, there are always certain factors that people distinguish us by. Mandi loves to layer, and her go-to colors are neutrals black, brown, grey and white. Casey is atypically the trendiest of us all, always wearing something sexy that hugs her body and shifting from neutrals on certain days and bright colors on others. I am the weirdest dresser, for I usually choose the loudest prints and colors and don't like matching my shoes with my bag nor my clothes. I'm part-Bohemian when it comes to dressing, part-Gaga when the time calls for it.

To give you all a clearer idea on the differences in fashion taste among MEC, here's a run-down of my favorite Spring 2011 RTW designers and which of the designers' pieces matches each one of us:

Prada

Mandi would wear something like this: a sexy, loose dress (of course, in black) with sky high heels.

I adore this outfit. The loud colors and non-matching prints ironically go so well together, for me.

Casey loves cute, printed dresses, so this asymmetrical dress with sexy silver platforms totally matches her personality.

Proenza Schouler

Mandi loves classic, tailored cuts. This sophisticated and chic look also still comes in her favorite hearthy colors.

I totally love the color yellow, plus the entire Bohemian vibe to this outfit. If I were a bit taller, I'd definitely love to wear the pleather leggings underneath a sheer, billowy dress of almost the same length.

This is so Casey, because it's simple but sexy and can be worn around anywhere (she chooses comfort over pizazz, most of the time) and I'm pretty sure she has a giant costume necklace lying around somewhere in her closet.

Alice + Olivia

Even though this outfit includes an array of colors, Mandi would definitely wear this on a casual day out, especially that Bohemian vest.

I wouldn't wear this outfit in those colors, but the graphic printed blouse with the textured bolero I adore.

I actually think I've seen Casey in something like this! Sexy and romantic (but still with a little oomph, given the ruffle skirt), and nude leggings that add just the right touch of femininity.
