A First-Time Dean's Lister

Today, we received our finals grades from the first term of what has already been a very tiring new school year of 2010-2011. I expected to fail Chemistry, do poorly in Economics, and get a lower-than-expected grade in History of Civilizations, but got the complete opposite of all of the aforementioned: I became a Dean's Lister!

It's my first time to be on the Dean's List. They say it's really easy to get into the Dean's List in La Salle, especially when you've got a lot of floating subjects. But not all floating subjects are easy, mind you. I am so grateful. Usually, all of my accomplishments have all relations to dancing or anything in the artistic aspect. Finally, I have something to be proud of, academically.

I've never exactly been a failing student (nor have I been on the honor roll), but after all success in dance and not too much in academics, I'm just so proud of myself and thankful to those (especially my boyfriend and dancing bud, AC) who always tell me they're proud of me!

Although the last term was pretty brief -- or, more like, it all went by in a blur -- there were still so many requirements to submit and so many tasks to accomplish. Not only did I have a subject with math and extreme analytical thinking incorporated into it, but also, I had all of my marketing and costume responsibilities with LSDC-Street. It's never easy balancing academics with extracurriculars, most especially when the latter leaves your brain tired and you feeling like an insomniac.

To add to all of the academic stress, competition season for the dancers was also beginning. It was finals week a couple of weeks ago, with the added note that I had to accomplish 15 DIY costumes for the competition team (but with help, of course), as well as the problem of gathering sponsors for LSDC-Street's upcoming events.

It is so true when people say that God doesn't give you challenges he doesn't think you can handle.

Things are sweeter when you least expect them.
