Paris (Day 1)

Paris. The most amazing city I have ever been to in my entire life. No wonder everyone who sets foot in the city instantly finds it intriguing and romantic. I was with my family and my boyfriend was back home in Manila, but I felt the romance the moment I laid eyes on the intricate facades of the ages-old architecture and the chilly, nipping breeze of the Spring time.

On our first day, my family didn't hesitate to jump in on the visits to the main tourist hotspots. No way would you catch any of us sitting in our hotel on our first day in the city of lights. The weather was freezing cold but we hadn't a care in the world, purchasing a museum pass that proved handy in our many goals for the day! We jumped from museum to site to museum and took the Paris Metro the entire day. I felt like such a jetsetter!

Arc du Triumph. Anyone who heads to Paris absolutely must visit this local hotspot. Despite the fact that it is ancient and holds the names of war victors under its arch, the Arc also is set in the middle of the world-famous avenue, the Champs-Elysees.

Musee de Louvre. One of the most famous museums in the world that holds the extremely renowned Mona Lisa. While the controversial painting is actually tinier than the pictures, it was still wonderful seeing it in person. Also visited are other famous paintings & statues, one being the Code of Hammurabi. World history at its finest! Not to mention the fact that sitting inside the museum itself could take days.

A quick visit to the Eiffel Tower. 'Twas quite the hazy day!

St. Chapelle. My personal favorite! My parents made us take a loooong Metro ride and walk to this famous chapel, but it was totally worth the strenuous activity. Inside, the high ceilings and beautifully restored stained-glass picture windows are incredible. I stared at the colors for what seemed like forever.

Les Deux Magots. The famous cafe which hosted the intellectuals such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway, and Oscar Wilde! I took a brochure to read up on the history of the cafe. I love how in Paris, everyone sits outside on the terrazzas no matter how cold the weather is. The people face their chairs out into the street, as well, as if people-watching is like sitting in a theater in itself.

Musee de Orsay. While we weren't allowed to take pictures inside, the last stop of our first day was this beautiful museum that holds tons of impressionist paintings. While the paintings are fabulous, I know it best by the fact that this is where Blair met Prince Louis in Gossip Girl!
