...well, just in my case, anyway:
10. Shorter days and earlier nights.
When days go by so quickly, and when the sky gets dark by 5:00 pm.
9. Waking up to the cold and needing a sweater in class.
It may not be the type of biting cold that the West experiences, but for a tropical country, any cold is almost winter-like.
8. The refrigerator and kitchen counter amassed with infinite goodies!
Foodie gifts start piling up.
7. The tree is up. And lights are everywhere.
Driving around the village and seeing everybody's Christmas decorations are up!
6. The excitement of teachers and students alike becomes quite obvious.
Profs start scheduling year-end exams and projects earlier than normal, since scheduled holidays would probably get in the way of things.
5. The Starbucks planner is out!
And the sticker-collecting begins! (But I've already got mine :>)
4. Making plans to go anywhere.
Friends start talking about what to do for Christmas, what Christmas parties are in the works, etc. Can't wait for my share of plans!
3. Having to buy wrapping paper & presents x sour candy.
I am my family's resident gift-wrapper, since I adorn presents with shiny paper, heaps of ribbons, and any other thingamabobbs I can find. I love making gift-giving a generous presentation! On a random note, I tend to buy more sour candy when the season begins. I still really have no idea why.
2. Endless doorbell-ringing.
Well, at least in my house! People dropping by to give presents, food, what-have-you.
1. That romantic feeling.
And not just because I'm in a relationship right now, but that feeling, in general, that lets you know that the holidays are something meant to share with someone, regardless of how intimate your relationship is with that person. It could be family, ka-barkada, teammates, or a significant other -- I just know that the holidays aren't something meant for alone time.
This year is the first time I get to celebrate the holidays with someone special. I've waited long enough to not take it for granted, and I know that this year, things will be different.
Looking forward to a great Christmas season with all of you!
