On Jero

I mention his name in quite a number of my blog entries, and he’s appeared in a just a number of my posted photos. But what I have never had the chance to do was share him with my literary world, to detail his mannerisms, and to put a face to that frequented name. All cheesiness aside, these are just a few tidbits that a lot of people may not know about Jero.

We’re dance teammates. In our close-knit team, pet names are the in thing. I, for instance, am “Clone” to one person, “FT” or “Ella Banana” to another, and “Bella” to most. To everybody in my team, he is “Chewo.”

More about Jero

To most of my friends, he is unbelievably quiet. To me and my team, he is the wacky, candid dance master who occasionally fumbles with complicated English, but whose addictive humor is very much appreciated.

I never thought I would end up with him. He’s from the province, and when he entered “my world”, he was definitely culture-shocked. 

We argue about our differences, but ironically, they’re what bring us together in the end.

He is incredibly white. No matter what he does—be it laying under the sun for hours on end or standing next to other, much whiter people—I will still always be the black sheep in the relationship. That’s figuratively said, of course.

We made a To-Do List together, when we first started dating. Fortunately for us, we’ve ticked off most of the boxes on that list.

He makes me laugh.

He loves to surprise me. And despite the number of surprises, I am always surprised.

There are a lot more reasons why I think he rocks my socks, but if I listed them down, I highly doubt that list would end.
